By C.S. Lewis

Name: Task 1

Write a chapter summary for EACH chapter of the book. (2 -3 paragraphs)

Chapter One: Four children were sent away from London during the war because of air-raids. They went to an old Professor’s house in the heart of the country. We were informed of the four children’s basic information.

They wanted to go out, but the rain came. When they were walking in the house, they found a wardrobe with a lot of coats in it in an old room. Lucy went into the wardrobe while the others went away. Lucy found branches and lights in it and felt strange. A Faun greeted her.

Chapter Two: Lucy talked with the Faun and the Faun asked her if she was a daughter of Eve. When they were talking, Lucy learnt that it was Narnia that she was standing in, and it was a completely strange world.

Lucy went to the Faun’s home, following the Faun. They had tea together and talked together. The Faun’s name was Tumnus. Mr. Tumnus told Lucy about the White Witch, who was bad. Then Lucy went back to the real world.

Chapter Three: Lucy went back and told the others about Narnia, but the others didn’t believe it. Lucy also found that no time passed in the real world while she seemed to spend a lot of time in Narnia.

As the others don’t believe Lucy, she tried to explain, but failed. The next day, when they were playing Hide & Seek, Edmund went to the Narnia together with Lucy. But they got lost there. In Narnia, he met the White Witch, the Queen of Narnia.

Chapter Four: As Edmund and the White Witch were talking, the White Witch recognized that Edmund was a son of Adam. She brought some hot drinks for Edmund,

which Edmund had never tasted before, and some Turkish Delight for Edmund to eat, which was Edmund’s favorite food.

But as an exchange, the White Witch asked Edmund to bring his brother & sisters together. To her joy, he accepted, in order to exchange more Turkish Delight. When Edmund wanted to go back, he met Lucy and went back together.

Chapter Five: Lucy told Susan and Peter their adventure in Narnia, but Edmund told a lie, for he didn’t want his brother & sisters to enjoy the delicious food and to be the King of Narnia as the White Witch promised.

It was unpleasant for both Lucy and Edmund. Lucy was disappointed and Edmund felt that his plan didn’t make sense. To their confusion, Susan and Peter went to ask the Professor what to do. The Professor suggested them to go with Lucy.

When Mrs. Macready was holding a party, they had a chance to go into the wardrobe. They went to Narnia accidentally.

Chapter Six: After they went into Narnia, Susan and Peter recognized that they were wrong. Narnia did exist. They apologized to Lucy and went to see Mr. Tumnus with Lucy. To Lucy’s surprise, Mr. Tumnus’ cave was broken and he was no longer there.

After reading the letter, Lucy realized that Mr. Tumnus was taken away by the White Witch. Lucy wanted to rescue Mr. Tumnus, for he was arrested because of her. As Edmund was on the Witch’s side, he refused, but Peter and Susan agreed with Lucy. They were guided by a robin and went into the forest.

Chapter Seven: The robin led them to Mr. Beaver. The Beaver told them that some of the trees were on the Witch’s side, so they needed to be quiet.

When they finally reached the Beavers’, they met Mrs. Beaver. They had a nice meal together.

Chapter Eight: After the dinner, the Beaver told them about Aslan, the King of Narnia. They learnt that Mr. Tumnus was arrested by the Witch, and only Aslan could save him.

When they were listening to this, Edmund left. When they found the disappearance of Edmund, they found it no use to search for him, for he betrayed them. So Mr. Beaver decided to go to meet Aslan at once.

Chapter Nine: Edmund had gone when they were talking about the Epics about Aslan, for he wanted Turkish Delight and to be the King of Narnia. But soon after he left, he found there was snow around him, everywhere. He regretted, but there was no chance of going back, so he still had to go.

He finally went to the Witch’s house. He found a lot of Statues there and felt a little afraid. Before he went into the Witch’s room, he was rejected by a wolf, and the wolf went to the Witch for admission.

Edmund told the Witch about his brother & sisters’ project. And the Witch decided to leave at once.

Chapter Ten: As the Beavers and three children have to go at once after they know that Edmund betrayed them, Mrs. Beaver wanted to take everything. But it cost a lot of time and they couldn’t wait for so long.

They went out soon. When they heard something strange, they hid, and Mr.

Chapter Twelve: After the children got up, they found everything around them was turning into spring. They enjoyed the nice view very much. But they still had to go to meet Aslan.

When they met Aslan, they felt astonished, for Aslan looked so strong and powerful. They talked to Aslan about what the Witch had done, and then Aslan ministered them.
